Sunny skies and light northerly winds greeted birders this morning. Most
bird activity appeared to be at Tip, with two or three dozen Yellow-rumped
Warblers and equal numbers of Ruby-crowned Kinglets. Amongst them were low
numbers/singles of Palm Warbler, Black-and-White Warbler, Cape May
Warbler, Northern Waterthrush, Yellow Warbler, and Pine Warbler.

Still things seem a little on the early side. Hermit Thrushes are
numerous, and almost no trees have any leaves on them. Earlier migrants
still being seen include, Rusty Blackbird, Dark-eyed Junco, Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker, Purple Finch and White-throated Sparrows. Pine Siskin was also
heard. Many species have yet to make an appearance. Probably the most
noteworthy bird reported today was a Pileated Woodpecker, reported from
the Post Woods Trail.

Some other birds reported this morning include House Wren, Northern
Mockingbird, Cliff, Bank and Rough-winged Swallows, Surf Scoter, and
Horned Grebe.

Just reported on ONTBIRDS is a male Kentucky Warbler seen along the Anders
footpath, north of the Cemetery sign.

Apparently water levels at Hillman Marsh are low and look good for
shorebirds.
