Ontbirds subscribers,
This morning shortly after sunset, as I was loading things in my my car prior
to leaving for work, I saw the Glossy Ibis flying around over Thickson's Woods
and I strongly suspect that it roosted in Corbett Creek Marsh to the east of
the woods last night. When I ran into him in front of my house last night,
Rayfield Pye quite presciently suggested that it might go to roost there.
Although I had subsequently checked last evening, I did not see it there at
that time.
Although I could not find an opportunity to post until now, I wanted to let
people know that I believe there is a reasonable chance that if the bird
remains in the area throughout the day, it may return to Corbett Creek Marsh to
roost again tonight. I will check for it again this evening and post if it is
re-found at roost there.
As an aside, when I arrived home last night, my copy of Ontario Birds was in my
mailbox mere hours after Lynne had posted that it had gone out in the mail -
kudos to Canada Post for rapid delivery.

Directions: Corbett Creek Marsh is immediately to the east of Thickson's
Woods. Take Highway 401 to exit 412 (Thickson Rd.) and follow Thickson Rd.
South toward the lake about 2 kilometres to the cul-de-sac at the end of the
road. Park there and walk north to the first roadway that runs east between
Thickson's Woods and the Thickson Meadow. Follow until the roadway turns north
toward the water treatment plant and here you can view much of Corbett Creek
Marsh on the right. Other good access points for the marsh are obtained by
walking the barrier beach east from the end of Crystal Beach Boulvard toward
the outlet of Corbett Creek Marsh into Lake Ontario.
