As a follow up to my earlier post, the Grey Kingbird was not seen or relocated
today at all after the initial 9 am sighting. There were many birders scouring
the area. It may show up tomorrow but I wanted to try and save birders time and
money so they don't drive all the way there to find out its not around anymore.
As a consolation prize, Lisa and I discovered a male dickcissel about ten
minutes from Hillman Marsh, at the Campers Cove Road field east of
wheatley. This has been a traditional spot for this species in the past but we
had not seen any reports yet this season.
The dickcissel can be viewed from hwy 3 east of wheatley at the corner of
campers cove road and hwy 3. The field is on the south east side of the
intersection and has a large oil rig type machine in it.  Listen and scan the
tops of the Mullens with a scope .
Good birding
