Our Pickering Naturalists outing at Carden was on May 30, not May 29!!!!

Botanically, Wylie Rd. is lined with sedges--take a good luck and rotate a
stem--remember, sedges have edges, grasses do not.

Also, the Prairie Smoke (Geum triflorum), a member of the Rose family, is
displaying its long, erect silvery-pink wispy seedhead achenes.

There are also masses of Indian Paintbrush, a red-orange member of the
Broomrape family, and some Orange Hawkweed , a Composite.

I do not believe any of us saw a Monarch Butterfly.
