Raptor Observations: Not much was going on raptor-wise. Like yesterday, sporadic morning movement slowed to a crawl in the afternoon. Sharpies and harriers dominated the totals once again and a close Merlin, this time to start the day, provided the highlight. Non-raptor Observations: Northern Pintail (2), Great Egret (3), Great Blue Heron (5), Killdeer (5), Belted Kingfisher (2), Red-winged Blackbird (550+), Chimney Swift (40+), Blue Jay (8), Northern Flicker (3), American Goldfinch (25+), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (11), Common Green Darner (93), Monarch (131) Predictions: Mostly sunny with warm temps and light south wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
