Visitors:
We had lots of friendly visitors today; Chuck, an annual visitor from
Michigan, a group of students from Walkerville High School, a couple from
Ottawa, and Diane and David from Windsor, to name a few.
Weather:
A beautiful warm day for enjoying, but not so good for watching hawks.
Winds were from the W, SW and S, but were quite light. Clouds were variable
throughout the day. Fog started the morning, changing to a heavy haze at
the north side of the marsh.
Raptor Observations:
Another leisurely day for raptors. 6 species showed up, and most had only
one representative, other than Sharp-shinned Hawks, who had just over 30.
Even Turkey Vultures were hard to come by, with the only ones appearing as
specks at the north side of the marsh. One Peregrine powered over the marsh
in the first hour and was never seen again.
Non-raptor Observations:
There were a few Killdeer and Chimney Swifts on the move today, adding
themselves to the Tree Swallows, 1000+ starlings, 71 Cedar Waxwings, 254
Red-winged Blackbirds, and 306 American Goldfinches. Blue Jays put in a
good morning with 17,380 put petered out by the afternoon. Yellow-rumped
Warblers and White-throated Sparrows were present around the base of the
tower, as well as Leopard Frogs. 1 Monarch. See today's eBird list

Predictions:
Winds from the east and south don't bode too well for birds flying, but it
should be another beautiful warm day.
