Observed an adult, dark morph Western Red-tailed Hawk (ssp. calurus) perched in a dead snag along Hwy 35 at 12:45pm today. I managed one poor but recognizable pic before it took off. Bird was on the W side of Highway 35, in a wetland just N of Miner's Bay (immediately past the N exit of Miner's Bay Rd.).
Also in area, there was a single Red-necked Grebe on Gull Lake, visible from Sandy Bay Rd. near the mouth of the Gull River. Sandy Bay Rd. is off Hwy 35, S of Minden.
