This afternoon at approximately 1:30 (from the Berm Trail), I observed a
cave swallow flying out over Harmony Creek and the marsh for several minutes.
The bird was in the SW corner of the marsh about 100m north of the lake. It was
a small swallow with a square tail and a pale rump and throat. When last I saw
it, it was flying eastwards over the marsh so there is a good chance it is
still around.
Other birds of interest include a single female canvasback and several
lingering wood ducks.
To get to Second Marsh take the 401 to the Harmony Road exit (exit 419)
go south on Farewell to Colonel Sam Drive, take a right and follow the road
until you cross a small bridge over Harmony Creek. Just after the bridge on the
south side is a gated road (the Berm Trail). I usually park on the shoulder of
Colonel Sam and walk the trail down to the lake.
