Hello birders,

Lev Frid and I just found a dark morph Gyrfalcon on Sideroad 9 & 10
Sunnidale, approximately halfway between Concessions 7 and 9 west of the
Minesing Wetlands.

We first saw it flying north along the east side of the road, when it
then flushed a flock of pigeons and flew up into the edge of a small
woodlot on the east side of the road. We were able to scope it from the
road for a few minutes before it departed. Nearby barns with flocks of
pigeons roosting on/near silos may be worth checking out.

Also of interest was a flock of 400+ Sandhill Cranes feeding in a cornfield
on Concession 7 just west of Sideroad 15/16.

Directions - from the 400, exit onto Dunlop St. (96B) and continue onto
County Road 90 West. Turn right onto Brentwood Rd/County Road 10. Continue
for about 10km, then turn left onto Concession 7. Then turn right onto
Sideroad 9/10. The woodlot will be on the right.

Good birding!

Amanda Guercio & Lev Frid
