The North Shore CBC which is located on the north shore of Essex County on Lake St Clair extends from Windsor to Belle River and the town of Essex to Gross Pointe Michigan took place December 14th
The weather was unusually warm at 18c with rain most of the day The total species count was only 54 which was well below the average of 70 This count actually benefits from colder weather when the Great Lakes to the north are ice covered. There is normally a large concentration of waterfowl at the mouth of the Detroit River. This year with no ice the numbers were way down Highlights included 2 Snowy Owls that are rare this far south. Also surf scoters and tufted titmouse were sighted which are often missed Merry Christmas and Good Birding Glenn Gervais North Shore CBC Compiler Sent from my iPhone _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
