The North Shore CBC which is located on the north shore of Essex County on Lake 
St Clair extends from Windsor to Belle River and the town of Essex to Gross 
Pointe Michigan took place December 14th 

The weather was unusually warm at 18c with rain most of the day 

The total species count was only 54 which was well below the average of 70 
This count actually benefits from colder weather when the Great Lakes to the 
north are ice covered.  There is normally a large concentration of waterfowl at 
the mouth of the Detroit River. This year with no ice the numbers were way down 

Highlights included 2 Snowy Owls that are rare this far south.  Also surf 
scoters and tufted titmouse were sighted which are often missed
