On a Riverwood Conservancy sponsored bird walk led by Luc Fazio and Dan
Salisbury, some 35 people challenged the cold this Saturday morning. They were
rewarded with great looks at the Male Harlequin Duck, just east of SADDINGTON
Park at the Foot of Mississauga rd., south of Lakeshore. The bird eventually
flew to Rhododendron Gardens waterfront and got lost in the midst of several
hundred Greater Scaups, LT Ducks, Goldeneyes, Buffleheads, RB mergansers, etc.
Also observed on the lakefront walk
24 White-Winged Scoters; some Gadwalls, 6 Trumpeters, a Peregrine Falcon,
3 species of Laridae, Red-breasted and White-breasted Nuthatch, and other more
common varieties.
Thanks to all that participated, putting up with a choppy lake and Luc's
ephemeral telescope.
Check The Riverwood Conservancy for the next birdwatching outing
