Observers: Bob Johnstone, Ernie Gribble, Jim Dunn, Keith Sealy,
                  Ronnie Goodhand

Visitors:
A few visitors today though I didn't get any names.

Weather:
Another beautiful late summer day with temp starting out at just 12C and a
moderate wind from the NE. Not a cloud in sight for the entire count period
and temps climbed to the mid twenties. Right as we decided to shut the
watch down for the day the cloud began to develop (of course).

Raptor Observations:
The migration started out quite nicely and by the time we shut down the
hawkwatch we had totalled 317 birds. Some very early in the day Broadwings
were up and moving in the first hour and we tallied 159 for the day. Other
species included a nice flight of Osprey along the cliff and slightly
inland as well as N. Harriers (40). At one point we had 8 N. Harriers in
the sky in front of us at the same time. For Accipiters there were Sharpies
(67) and a couple of Cooper's Hawks while for falcons A. Kestrel (26) and a
couple of Merlin one of which sat in the "Merlin Tree" providing good views
in the scope. We also tallied a single immature Bald Eagle.

Non-raptor Observations:
On the passerine front we had some good species seen including Red-bellied
Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Cedar Waxwings, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher,
Chimney Swift, Gray Catbird, Common Loon, Bank Swallow, Barn Swallow, Cliff
Swallow, Belted Kingfisher, Bluejays, Least Flycatcher, Ruby-throated
Hummingbird, Chickadees, N. Cardinals, Magnolia Warbler, Redstart,
Chestnut-sided Warbler, Great-crested Flycatcher, Red-eyed Vireo, Cape May
warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler and Black-billed Cuckoo,

Predictions:
Winds will not be as favourable on Saturday as they swing around to the E
and SE.
