Weather: A very pleasant day on the tower today. Mainly sunny and mild with moderate North-easterlies. The mercury climbed from 18C to 23C. Raptor Observations: 58 birds in total today. Sharp-shinned Hawks dominated the flight with an early run. Kestrel numbers were greatly reduced as expected with an Eastern component to the wind. Eight Bald Eagles were observed but only one could be confirmed as a migrant. The local Osprey were in evidence for most of the morning. Non-raptor Observations: Numerous Green Darners and Saddlebags were in evidence. Few warblers passed the tower but there was a good flight of Cedar Waxwings (80) and numerous Swallow sp. Predictions: An area of high pressure is tracking East to the North of Holiday Beach. Sunny skies and warm temperatures are on tap. The clockwise flow around the high will see our winds veer from light North-easterlies in the early morning to light to moderate South-easterlies by noon, increasing to moderate South-easterlies by late afternoon. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Claude Radley ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
