There was a slight haze over the lake the whole day. There was a single female Merlin that was flying back and fourth all day, and did not migrate. Non-raptor Observations: Non-raptor migration was also slow, but there were things moving. A total of 197 Purple Martins were observed flying West over the tower, as well as a total of 230 other swallows. 230 Cedar Waxwings also migrated through, as well as 179 American Goldfinches. As far as Dragonflies, 8 Black Saddlebags, 2 Green Darners, and a single Twelve-spotted Skimmer were observed migrating past the tower. 3 Monarch Butterflies also migrated past. Predictions: Moderate winds starting out in the W, and switching to the SW as the day progresses. Temperatures starting in the mid 20s with highs of low 30s.
