I did a bit of lake watching this evening from the Port Burwell beach
as the storms came through and was not disappointed. There were
thousands of Common Terns and Bonaparte's Gulls swirling around near
shore, and out on the horizon. Around 5:25 a juvenile Black-legged
Kittiwake came in close, knifing around with some gulls and terns. The
black M-pattern on the wings and black collar were easily visible. The
bird disappeared shortly thereafter, possibly moving west or further
offshore.

Between 5:30 and 6:00 at least 4 Jaegers (2 groups of 2) were seen out
on the horizon cruising west, harassing a few gulls and terns on the
way. Based on size and flight I suspect they were all Parasitic.

Directions: Port Burwell is about 30 minutes west of Long Point on the
shore of Lake Erie. I watched from the base of Robinson Street on the
east side of the river mouth. The pier on the other side of the river
may have also been an interesting vantage point.

Happy Birding,
