Weather: A beautiful fall day today - clear skies with a light south wind throughout the day. Raptor Observations: A good day today for migration. Total for raptors was 1199 birds, most of which Turkey Vultures. Red-tailed Hawks made a nice push today, with 41 birds. Sharp-shinned Hawks and Broad-winged Hawks were pretty numerous, with a spattering of other species including a few Red-shouldered Hawks. Non-raptor Observations: A few White Pelicans were seen again on the water, along with Pied-billed Grebes and large rafts of Double-crested Cormorants. Large groups of Blue Jays also moved though today, and Caspian and Forster's Terns were hunting in front of the count site. Predictions: Tomorrow's weather conditions will be similar. Migration should be more of the same. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Detroit River Hawk Watch ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
