Visitors:
Many visitors throughout the day on this holiday Monday, most just brief
visits, but several from Ohio, Michigan, and locally in Essex County.


Weather:
Winds started out of the N this morning, but slowly shifted into SE into
the afternoon. Clear skies for most of the day, with some brief patchy
clouds in the afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
11 species of raptor were observed from the tower today, with the most
abundant being Turkey Vultures. Many large kettles of Turkey Vultures past
by too high to see with bare eyes, heading WNW, several kettles with some
Red-tailed Hawks, Cooper's Hawks, and some other with them. Today was the
first day Cooper's Hawk numbers surpassed Sharp-shinned Hawk numbers.

Non-raptor Observations:
18,300 Blue Jays were counted migrating past the tower today, as well as
1070 Red-winged Blackbirds, 35 Rusty Blackbirds, and 298 American
Goldfinches. For the full eBird checklist, go to

observed.

Predictions:
Partially cloudy with light-moderate S winds.
