(Camo Girls) were on the tower for a little bit late in the afternoon. Weather: First thing in the morning was fairly chilly, but the afternoon sun brought warmth and it felt like September again! Again a beautiful hawk watching sky was wasted on a lack of birds. Raptor Observations: Today was even slower than yesterday! 6 Raptors in total, all far to the North. As usual on days like this, the Red-tailed Hawks were moving slowly along the North tree line. Non-raptor Observations: Surprisingly decent morning for non-raptors! 252 Horned Larks, 84 American Pipits, 168 Cedar Waxwings, and 509 American Goldfinches were counted migrating overhead, as well as singles of Lapland Longspur, Pine Siskin, and Common Redpoll. Yesterday's Orange-crowned Warbler was still around today as well. For the full eBird checklist, go to http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S32571818 Predictions: West winds predicted all day tomorrow, more warm weather in the afternoon. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sean Jenniskens ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
