Thanks Ken! Weather: Weather was quite pleasant again today, with light winds from the south. Interestingly, barometric pressure was quite low throughout the day, although the skies were clear. Raptor Observations: Very few raptors today - 24 total. However, species diversity was impressive relative to numbers. If you do not include our single kettle of 15 Turkey Vultures, we had 9 individual birds, of 7 species. Non-raptor Observations: A Winter Wren was heard singing his heart out behind the count site, certainly a treat for the area. We had about 100 Mergansers on a flyby, though we could not determine whether they were Common or Red-breasted. More likely they were Common, but too distant to be sure. We also had a couple considerable flocks of Crows in migration, totaling about 175 birds. Bonaparte's Gulls continue to hunt in the canal. Predictions: Tomorrow has some potential for more migrants. Winds will be light and northwesterly. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Detroit River Hawk Watch ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
