Around 8:15 am today there was a dark immature jaeger flying west along the shore of the Ottawa River, just east of the Deschenes Rapids Lookout. Unfortunately I only caught a short glimpse while riding past, and was unable to stop for a better view. My impression was of an immature dark-morph Parasitic Jaeger ... but hopefully someone else will get a better look at it!
Directions: The bird could be anywhere along the Ottawa River, but it might be worth starting at the Deschenes Rapids Lookout, which can be accessed by exiting Hwy 417 at Pinecrest, heading north, then turning right on Richmond, right on Carling, and right to get on the Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway; continue for ~2 km, then turn left into the parking lot for the lookout Marcel Gahbauer Ottawa ON [email protected] _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
