Not a rare species for the area or season, but definitely the highest number I personally have ever seen. Pardon the late posting, but I was not able to make it yesterday due to a family function. Yesterday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. on Ravenshoe Rd. at the south end of Keswick, about 1 km west of Bruce St (or 2 km west of Leslie St.), there was a very large flock of (conservatively) 300+ (maybe in excess of 400) Snow Buntings, roughly 200 m north of Ravenshoe Rd. Last week I saw a flock of 150+, but yesterday's flock was huge. Also saw the pair of Bald Eagles in the trees north of the dead end on Bruce St., my first sighting of them in about 2 weeks. Two Snowy Owls were also seen on the fields north of Ravenshoe Rd. as well.

For non-locals, to get to Ravenshoe Rd, take Hwy 404 to its northern terminus, then continue a short distance north on Woodbine to Ravenshoe Rd. Turn left (west) and drive west about 3 km to reach Bruce St. and the beginning of the agricultural flatlands where these sightings were made. Happy winter birding!
