Refound the yellow-crowned night heron this morning Sept. 12 around 10- 11:00 am. Spotted flying up river from the rail road bridge. Then spotted from south shore(I.e. looking across river) right across from river canard park. The bird was standing on some rocks fishing on the north shore right at river canard park in between the floating fishing platform and observation deck. Park behind baseball diamonds by boat launch and walk east down gravel path along the river. Go past the fishing platform and turn right walk to rocks on shoreline and look east right before the small observation deck.
The bird is fairly hard to spot ( i.e. drab colour and very thin profile) and is moving around quite a bit. It's also hard to see the bird from the shore he is on due to the grasses. Best to spot from opposite shore first I think. A kayak would be even better for searching. Good Luck!
