On the evening of the 26th just after dark I heard a flock of Brant Geese
calling as the birds flew over the house.

This morning Oct. 27with Dan Burton we birded Lake Bernard hoping to see what
seemed like a good movement of birds overnight.

We were not to be disappointed and it began with a massive flock of Brant
approx. 350 to 400 birds . We saw two more flocks of Brant of which I was able
to photograph both groups and this second group contained approx. 170 birds
and a third flock of approx. 120 birds. This represents the most Brant ever
seen on Lake Bernard in a single day.

Other birds on the move were Long-tailed Duck, Common Goldeneye, Red-breasted
Merganser and all 3 species of Scoter.

One flock of Scoter's at rest contained 5 Surf all males 1 White-winged male,
and 34 Black Scoter,a mixture of adult male and female type birds.

We also observed one Black-backed woodpecker, 5 White-winged Crossbill, 2 Pine
Siskin Am Goldfinch and Tree Sparrow.
