Festival of Flight May 6th Morning Report

Despite the low overall numbers today birding has still been a success with
many good reports coming in. Following the similar pattern over the past five
days the birds are staying primarily in the north end of the park. Maintenance
Trail as well as the north end beach access have seen bird activity but the
real hub is on the Marsh Trail. Large groups of Blackbirds as well as Vireos
were seen moving along the shore on Marsh Trail as well as several good warbler
flocks. A Prairie Warbler was spotted 1km up the Marsh Trail as well as a
Orange-crowned Warbler and many other species. A White-eyed Vireo put on a good
show this morning on our Festival of Flight guided hike. The Vireo as well as 6
other warbler species were also seen on our hike on the Maintenance Trail. Also
a Northern Mockingbird was found along Lakeshore Rd at Beach Access 10 earlier
this morning.

The morning has been fairly quiet otherwise elsewhere in the park but most
likely to pick up as the day moves on following the same pattern as days before.

The power has been restored at the Visitor Centre. The Visitor Centre will
remain open until 5 today and follow the same schedule from 7-5 from now on.

Join us from May 1st until the 20th for the Festival of Flight!
