Festival of Flight May 9th Morning Report

A busy morning here at Rondeau with very good numbers of songbirds moving
through. Once again the birds are being found in the North end of the park,
with most of the action at Marsh Trail. Warblers, Sparrows, Vireos, and
Flycatchers are all moving very quickly through the park and sticking high in
the willows and flowering trees.

23 Species of Warblers have been spotted this morning primarily at the
Maintenance Loop as well as the Marsh Trail. Blue-winged Warbler, Hooded
Warbler, and Canada Warbler are all present in the Maintenance area along with
several species of Sparrows. Philadelphia Vireos have been spotted at both the
Marsh Trail and Pony Barn. It is also worth noting a movement of both Summer
and Scarlet Tanagers in the park.

We are hosting a guided hike at 1 PM today for a fee of $10 per person. Meet at
the Visitor Centre if you would like to participate.

Join us from May 1st until the 20th for the Festival of Flight

Hike Leader: Peter Simons
