Rondeau festival of Flight May 16th Afternoon Report

The two Black-necked Stilts are still giving fantastic views in the flooded
field across from The Summer Place. A reminder to not park and bird directly on
the shoulders of the road, park in The Summer Place (parking fee) or walk
around using Keith McLean’s Conservation Area (not through the farmer's field).
A Mourning Warbler was found on Bennett Rd this afternoon close to the West
End. A Hooded Warbler was found on South Points west end. And finally, a
Yellow-billed Cuckoo was found at the South Point parking lot.

It is a good time to look in flooded fields for shorebirds. Dowitchers,
Turnstones, Plovers and Sandpipers are all turning up in good numbers around
the park in fields and ponds.

The Blenheim Sewage Lagoons lock is seized shut not allowing entry, work is
being done to replace the lock.

The south end of Harrison Trail, South Point, and Marsh Trail are extremely wet
and flooded in parts, tall boots are recommended.

Join us from May 1st until the 19th for the Festival of Flight.

Guided hikes available.
