Observation start time: 07:30:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 8.5 hours

Official Counter: Tom Bolohan

Observers: Ernie Gribble, Keith Sealy, Mark Cunningham, Matt Oswald,
Rebecca Vile, Ronnie Goodhand, Tom Stewart

Visitors:
A handful of visitors today to enjoy the nice flight. A big thanks to Tom
B, Matt, Ronnie, Rebecca, Tom S, Ernie, Mark, Ernie and Keith for spotting
all the birds and getting them tallied up for today's count.

Weather:
A fantastic hawk migration day weather-wise with mostly cloudy in the
morning first thing before breaking out to a good mix of sun and cloud. The
key were the light to moderate NW winds for the entire day bringing the
flight line right down to the Lake Erie shoreline or just slightly inland
at what we term "Sharpie Alley". Temps were very comfortable starting cool
at 6C and getting to a high of 11C.

Raptor Observations:
A really good push of migrant raptors today with a total of 7,170 birds
tallied. The bulk of these were TVs (6,367) as expected at this time of the
year... but even without the TVs the count of other species was 803..

Decent numbers of buteos today with Redtails (238) and Red-shoulders (62).
Lots of Sharpies (431) and Cooper's (25) and the first Golden Eagles (3) of
the season.

Non-raptor Observations:
For other species.... we had Ring-necked Pheasant, E. Phoebe, Rusty
Blackbird, E. Towhee, Blue-headed Vireos, White-throated Sparrows, Song
Sparrows, RC and GC Kinglets, Tundra Swans (3) flyby, warblers... Palm and
Myrtle, Common Grackles and Red-winged Blackbirds (100's of each in large
flocks), E. Bluebirds (lots) and several Loons (appeared to be mostly
Common).

There were also 3 Monarch butterflies noted passing by the hawk watch
todat.

Predictions:
NIce day but not the best wind direction forecast with winds from the S.
