hawks. Thank you all!
Weather:
The weather today was pleasant. There was sun all day with great
visibility. The wind was mostly west with some northerly components.
Raptor Observations:
What a great day! We had an abundance of raptors today. The majority were
red tailed hawks, followed closely by turkey vultures. Red shouldered hawks
were in higher numbers than they have been in the last couple of weeks.
Sharpies, harriers and coppers hawks were all in similar numbers today
around 8, and we finally had a Merlin and kestrel which we havenât seen
in a while. We counted 3 migrating bald eagles and 4 golden eagles.
Non-raptor Observations:
Today was exhale good with non-raptors. This morning started off another
duck day with plenty of coots and gadwall again. Green winged teal, pintail
and northern shoveler are present in good amounts with a few canvasback and
redhead flyovers. We had over 100 tundra swans fly over during the day, and
with one flock, a confused Canada goose. We also had a huge shock when 45
pelicans flocked over the marsh! The Virginia rail continues its stay.
Crows were in high numbers again with 3000.

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks slightly cooler but a good wind day. Some northerly
component winds during the day should coax some hawks to fly closer to the
tower. Golden eagles are steadily migrating and would be a good day to
visit if youâd like to see one!
