I don't use 'make alpha'; it doesn't work. I can't remember now whether
I use make distcheck or make maintainer-check; probably both.

('make alpha' is high-maintenance, and nobody has the time to maintain
it right now.)

As a general rule, the manual should explain only the current Bison
release. The manual is not a good place to discuss what we might do
in the future, or what things looked like in the past, as typically
such discussions overly complicate the explanation of the present
situation. Plus, these discussions make the manual harder to maintain
-- and it's important to keep the manual easy to maintain.

For future stuff, TODO is the usual place.

For past stuff, NEWS and/or ChangeLog is the usual place.

(There are exceptions to this general rule of course.)
