i'm not experienced enough to know. alignment in C across platforms is
always a huge nightmare of the cartesian product of {known,unknown}
bugs, in my experience, at least.

i've never actually used ada for real.

mostly i just meant that even if the syntax puts things together, the
docs should call out the individual concepts so i can *learn* that
these things are munged in the syntax, and i can *find* the concepts
in the docs, rather than having to divine it somehow. :-)
