I'm also interested in this subject and would like to contribute in any way 
I can. But for that it would be interesting to get a quick summary of the 
current state. I can see the latest update on the segwit branch happend 
back in november. 

But looking at that branch I can also see that a lot of what one would 
think is required is already done. The Transaction class already has a list 
of witnesses, which are instances of the TransactionWitness class. But I'm 
not that familiar with how all of this gets integrated into the rest of the 
library.

So what would be required to do next?
