Go back down to runlevel 2 or 3

> /sbin/telinit 3

and the run Xconfigurator.  You can choose the resolutions and color
depths you want and then restart X with

> /sbin/telinit 5

The default resolution is the highest one you enable in
Xconfigurator that your monitor and video card support.  There is some
Control-Alt key binding to toggle among the various resolutions you
have enabled, but I can't remember what is is.

If you try a resolution that doesn't load and you can't use the screen
of mouse, do Ctrl-Alt-F1 to kill X and try again.
