The skinny on 802.11g (Wireless LAN): 54MB/sec, indoor range of 100-300 feet (roughly double when outdoors), and allows 802.11b users to work on the same network (albeit at 11Mbps). 802.11a runs at the same speed, but doesn’t work with .11b. The downside of .11g is that it operates at 2.4 GHz, the same spectrum that some cordless phones operate in. But if you want security, stick to cables.
