About once a year or so I try to get DVD working under linux, and
usually give up frustrated by a fucked up picture or no sound or
sources that won't compile.

No more. ogle (http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/) has a GPL'd
dvd player that installed with no hassles (I tried both rpm and
source) and is as good as any windows player I have used. Full
support for navigation, camera angles, languages, menus, what have
you. And the picture as far as I can see is perfect.

Hats off to those guys.
