:Aluminum (especially non-tempered) is a bitch to deal with at high
:temperatures. It's problematic to weld to and if impacted above 1800
:degrees will crumble like a stale cookie. You're better off going to the
:hardware store and buying a section of steel pipe for this project. It
:won't be as cool as the bat, but it will be more reliable.

Which is why, at Organic, the CEs had something we called "the
patch". It was a giant steel wrench, maybe three feet long, that we
found left on the roof. It was a good thing to have in hand while
discussing last-minute specification changes with project management.
And, of course, if someone screwed something up, you could always just
go over and apply The Patch. Works wonders.
