Hi all, here is a consultants guide to the universe. Prospect- It's free software so why can't you "give" me your spare time?. Consultant - I have better things to do in life than underwrite your development costs Prospect - Your overheads are low, why don't you charge $25 per hour ? Consultant - Try elephants, they work for peanuts. Prospect - Wouldn't you like to be in on this ground floor opportunity Consultant -.Thanks but I already took the elevator (30 years ago) Prospect- The code for this project is trivial, it may take 20 minutes at most. Consultant - What have you been smoking? Prospect - I'll draw (on the back of this napkin) the main components of this multi-server application. Consultant - Yes, I see you've done your homework. Prospect - You quoted 100 hours to develop this application (on the back of a napkin) Consultant - Yes it could take longer but I would have to spend at least 50 hours just finding out what you really want. Prospect - I don't have much money to spend on this project so I will pay you when I sell this application. Consultant - I'll tell you what. Why don't I do the development and I'll pay you $50 for your "business" plan ? Prospect - But that way, I only make $50 Consultant - Better than a pie in the sky.
