What exactly is your goal here? A reliable, easily provisionable CPE for under $50? And you want it to have good sound quality?
I once bought a Gnet phone for about $60, but it was absolutely awful. In all fairness, the sound quality was acceptable, but the build quality was abysmal, and the interface was barely useable, let alone appropriate for a large deployment. It died (no signs of life) after I had used it occasionally for three months). I don't mean to shoot you down, but it sounds like you are asking for a magic bullet, where one doesn't exist.
