Laptops come in a variety of specifications from low end to high end. Thankfully though, the high end options aren't as expensive as they used to be. Choosing a laptop really comes down to what you want to be able to do with it such as, video editing, graphic arts, website building, use a Bluetooth mobile/cell phone as a modem while I'm out of the office, gaming and of course VoIP with a softphone. Myself, I am a power user and I do all of the above plus the easier things such as, word processing and email. I picked up a laptop just a few weeks ago from Canada Computers; here is the link http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=024815&ci d=NBK.726 An Asus F50S series, plenty of horse power since I don't plan on buying another laptop for the next 4 - 5 years; it even has a number pad for working out quick quotes for customers and it comes with a 2 year warranty. Since you need it quickly, I think having a look at a retailer like Canada Computers is a good place to start and their pricing is competitive even when compared to a distributor.
