Llyod, Statistically speaking Dells are the ones that break less. Probably less than 5% come back for repair in the first two years. Sony is the more expensive, better screen resolution, and less heat problem. The rest are all the same (HP, Acer, Asuc, Toshiba). Actually some of the low end ones are really ugly and troublesome. Don't go near the HP tablets or the cheap $399-$499 Asus unless you want only 1 year out of it. I have many HP laptops just for the fact that they provide me great support (certified tech) and parts are easy to obtain. Not that they make the best units. It's just that I can fix them anytime. Best Buy has the most varieties than any other store in Canada when it comes to laptops. If you are buying their warranty then they have room to lower price too. If you find a friend there ask them to buy for you and warranty is half price which is worth it given you can do *things* to laptop to break and get a replacement. Overall, do not expect any laptop to run more than 2.5-3 years now a days. Almost all are assembled in China now a-days and get shipped to retailers directly from China under different brand names as is the case for HP. Hope that helps. Bruce
