Hi Michael,
You all have been making a difference.
Frankly, I've been shocked at how willing John McCain and Sarah Palin have been
to lie repeatedly and demonstrably. And, early last week, few people in the
media were calling them on it.
Then you joined together and generated thousands of letters to media outlets
across the country. This was part of a large effort by Democrats to make sure
that John McCain was held accountable.
And now, the local and national media has begun to call McCain's campaign out
on the lies. From local papers in places all across the country to cable news
to the major, influential dailies like the NYTimes and the Washington Post, the
truth has begun to fight back.
And we've had smaller successes, as well.
Just one example: there's a new email running around that claims that Joe Biden
stiffed a contractor out of money his campaign owed him. Marq, a
TruthFightsBack activist, found the original sender of the email, emailed him
directly, and got the real story: the bills were paid a while ago, and the man
regrets ever sending that original email to a few family members. Now, it's up
on TFB so you can debunk that in case you get that email.
But we'll have so much more to do, more activism to push back on the lies and
smears. A new group funded by the same crew that funded the Swift Boat liars in
2004 is gearing up for another round, and we have a couple of very exciting,
innovative programs beginning very, very soon.
But today I just wanted to write and say, "Thank you." I've heard from quite a
few people in quite a few different places that you are making a difference,
and the work you've done has been an important part of pushing back on the lies
of the McCain-Palin ticket.
