Good Point Carol, I remember that!! I think one of the reasons that they banned it is that the poultry industry just gives an antibiotic as a maintenance dose since their birds are in such a confined space. I don't think we would be creating a problem if we use it discriminately. I use plenty of anitbiotic, and try to use only one shot. Thereby killing the organism quickly and leaving a little residual in the host to prevent rebound as occurrs about 3 days after the initial knockdown. However, another method is 2 shots about 3 days apart. This way we do not develop resistant strains. Remember the Aureomycin crumbles for cattle. They still use it, and this is another maintenance dose. Then when you get a "real" infection, you don't have anyhing left...
