I doubt I can enlighten you, but I will share my experience with BB.
First, I want to say that this list is lively and helpful.
I've been using Blackbox for a couple of months, I think. I like minimalism but also
tend to fall for cool apps that do stuff.
Right now, I'm not using bbkeys or bbtools. I have them both but
haven't taken the time to figure them out. I use the toolbar and the
menu for my navigation. They work fine for me. I also use bbmail which
works nicely with Pine, my e-mail client. I use bbweather some, but an
earlier version, again because I haven't taken the time to figure some
difficulties I had installing recent versions.
In other words, bbtools and bbkeys aren't necessary to use BB
productively. As I have time, I plan to explore more of the options
Personally, I like the ease, once I figured it out, of making styles
for BB.
"sticky" means the window appears in all workspaces. You can move it
around, I use it mostly for synaesthesia.
Now, for my own naive question: Would someone explain the "slit" to
me? I see references on the list and in docs but haven't figured it
out yet.
