What run level are you in? When you start the computer your give the unix front right? you dont start X by default? if this is true then what you want to be doing is have BlackBox in your .xinitrc file. this is just a small text file in the home dirrectory it looks somthing like this....
/usr/local/bin/gkrellm -w & exec /usr/local/bin/blackbox ... Thats mine, it probably does exaclty what you would want. In this case it will open GKrellm and then start your black box session. If you add anything else to this file it is vital that you remember the & at the end of the line or else Unix will wait indefinitly for the command to end before starting BlackBox. If you want any more help i would be happy to offer more Stuart On Sun, 2003-02-02 at 17:30, jens g.r. benthien --//-- designer wrote: > Hi Blackbox community, > > I'm new to Linux - started just 4 weeks ago installing it on one of my machines. >Discoverd > Blackbox just by coincident on the SuSE Linux site and installed it, because KDE was >kind of > slow and used too much CPU time. > > I didn't know how to start blackbox, so I tried -> startx blackbox and it worked. >However, > when exiting blackbox, I receive a bunch of error messages: > > failed to open catalog, using default messages > BScreen::BScreen: managing screen 0 using visual 0x23, depth 24 > failed to open catalog, using default messages > BImageControl::~BImageControl: pixmap cache - releasing 200 pixmaps > > waiting for X server to shut down > > Mutex destroy failure: Device or resource busy > kdeinit: Fatal IO error: client killed > kdeinit: sending SIGHUP to children > kdeinit: sending SIGTERM to children > kdeinit: Exit. > > $ (prompt) > > This is the 'best case scenario'.
