i think redhats problem is that they arent using the freefont package,
which debian does, they just kind of expect everyone to have internet
access and download the M$ core fonts. i must admit, i used to have font
issues with mandrake and redhat before i switched.

what really needs to be done to the code in order to implement this? is
it a major thing, or have they made a good job of making transition to
xft easy? if there are good examples/tutorials for using xft, i might be
tempted to try and implement this in blackbox, just to see what it looks
like.
