I don't actually hack on blackbox, but when I've wanted to try other
window managers, I've tried a variety of options. One is to use a
session manager; that way the window manager doesn't kill the x session
when it's killed. ROX-Session, in particular, is nice since it allows
you to start a window manager of your choice when it detects that the
window manager has died or been killed.

Another option is to use Xnest; view the man pages to get detailed
information on how to invoke it.
