you are just full of FAQs aren't you (-:

you can not make windows in X do anything, each developer controls how they 
act.  So, what has been done is people write session managers.  These watch 
for known window types (yes I said types.  xterm is a type, netscape is a 
type, etc.) and do something with them.  So it might notice you launched 
mozilla and execute your saved setting which is "workspace 3, maximized 
horizontally".

This once again is a netwm thing.  Keeps coming back to that doesn' it.  Also, 
we need a good, desktop independent session manager.  There is a program 
called bbappconf which kind of does this for the 0.65 series but it has 
issues and definately won't work for the new release.
