Simple, it doesn't compile.

In four years, I have never seen KDE completely compile (this is under
several revisions across different versions of 3 operating systems).  I've
heard tales of this monstrosity building, but have never seen it myself.

Other than that, it's not that hard: I primarily use gaim, mozilla-firebird,
sylpheed-claws, xmms, gvim and eterm.  None of which require QT or KDE. 
Which is good, because no matter how fast your machine is, loading KDE apps
outside of KDE takes forever.

Oh, and I don't use linux. :)
