After moving over to CVS I've noticed blackbox doing what I think is incorrect
behaviour when it can't find a font. this page on the blackbox website
indicates that it should find a default font if all else fails:

        http://blackboxwm.sourceforge.net/BlackboxFAQ/VisualAppearance

"According to the source code, the default is either sans-serif in case
Blackbox was compiled with Xft (fontconfig) support, or fixed otherwise. They
are both safe bets since X11 will not start without having a fixed font
defined, and fontconfig always defines a sans-serif."

however, I'm seeing it run without any font. using the Artwiz style that comes
with bb, everything is fine:

however switching to other styles isn't. Cthulhian (which tries to use
-*-lucida-medium-r-*-*-*-100-*-*-*-*-*):

        http://extrapolation.net/temp/menu2.jpg

Flux (which tries to use lucidasans-10):

        http://extrapolation.net/temp/menu3.jpg

there were other styles that did the same thing, this is just a couple of
examples.

blackbox was compiled with Xft support, so according to the above webpage it
should be using sans-serif. maybe fontconfig doesn't "always" define a
sans-serif? here's some other possibly relevant info:

SuSE Linux 9.1, kernel 2.6.5-7.111.19-default
fontconfig-2.2.92.20040221-28
fontconfig-devel-2.2.92.20040221-28
Xft libs/includes from XFree86-devel-4.3.99.902-40 and
XFree86-libs-4.3.99.902-43.42

let me know if you need any other info.
