Your confirmation went lost in the ether, probably. "Is there anyone
there?" Yes, I am here for example ... though, of course --no, I am not a
*reference* at all, I just have subscribed to the list (and have received
my confirmation) one, two days ago. (More or less like you.)

I have subscribed to the Sawmill (Sawfish) list too; and have
just un-subscribed from the Window Maker one (the Sawmill list is quite
active; the Window Maker also, in general ... there would have been too
much stuff to read/delete).

Window Maker ... yes, I have used it for enough long time on both FreeBSD
and --now :) -- GNU/Linux (Slackware current). Thank you Window
Maker; thank you very much because I am going to de-install you soon.

Indeed Blackbox seems to be reasonably mature (I am even using with
satisfaction the last downloadable alpha); is fast and trades off well
with the so called User Interface (I would recommend to read Mike
Gancarz's The UNIX philosophy, 1995, Digital Press) ... I use/execute-from
an Xterm 99% of the time (or then from Emacs), and really don't need to
use any Cape Canaveral- or nuclear submarine appendages much often;

Just *en passant,* Blackbox may even be the one that looks better (I have
tried several of them: please, I don't want to start a flame-war
here); works so far with no apparent problems with Eterms, Aterms (if you
like them of course); and --last but not least,-- the
developer(s) has(ve) promised to stick to a Manifesto which outlaws
Schmonzes, Kitsch, bloat, et cetera.

Cheers, Roy
