this test was performed on an amd k6-2 450 with 128 mb of ram.

in ~/.blackboxrc, the session.cachLife was set to 0, while
session.cacheMax was set to 20.

the style i was using utilized only flat textures, no raised or sunked
bevels (i'm not sure if this would make a difference, i should've tested
it).

there you have it. pretty drastic, imo.

in addition, i've noticed that maximizing and resizing windows is much
faster without the fancy window frames.

since stylized window frames are barely noticeable anyway, and given the
definate performance boost without them, i think they should be turned
off by default. imo.
